Devil in God Skin
Devil in God’s skin
They claim to be righteous
But behind closed doors they scheme
They don’t have your best interest at heart
Neither do they me
See, how they drive their white Escalades
On our unpaved roads
Come in our houses
Falsing compassion
But watch closely
They don’t want to sit
To them our chairs are dusty, dirty
Try to offer them water
They say, “No thanks, I’m not thirsty.”
Roll up their Armani sleeves Posing middle class
Yeah right, he is working class like Tamica living in the Cabrini Greens is a Rockefeller
They speak poetry
But their actions are shrouded in treachery
That’s why they say peace
Turn around send our children to war
Forget about reading his lips
We need to be watching his hands
Circus magician he is pulling rabbits out of hats!
Be careful, his whole demeanor is designed for the perfect deception
Take his words at face value
Instead watch closely his actions
It’s not public service what they say about each other
It’s a veil
Used to blind us from their true self
It’s not what the other did
It’s what he did
It’s not what the other didn’t do
It’s what he didn’t do
“Choose me,” he wants us to “because I’m better than he is.”
But what does that say about who he is?
Nothing.
And that I’m afraid is not reason enough to make a leader
Political campaigns are just drawn out job interviews
And yes you guessed it; nobody tells the truth
The handshakes and hugs
Just photo op’s
Soon as the cameras stop
Rolling
There goes the loving eyes
In this game they play Most of us are a million dollar short of being important
The burden therefore rest with us
To do our homework
And decide wisely who merits our vote
Cos after the results are counted
We count less
Unless of course we come together
Scream loud enough to disturb their sleep
